The M-Stick

The M-Stick is a guitar-like instrument (developed by me), which is currently in the process of manufacturing. Further information about it will be published when it becomes available. Now, you can look at its simplified image (imagine it is a black wooden plank lying on a table):

One of the most important properties of this instrument is the major third tuning (M-Stick is an abbreviation of Major-third-Stick, what else ;-) ). Further information about this tuning can be found here.

  1. What is the intended way of holding it, horizontally like the lap steel guitar and dulcimer, or upright like the typical guitar and cello? (I could just wait until published, but curious..)

Hello, I’ve uploaded a more recent diagram (the design had to change slightly due to some technical limitations). Although it now looks slightly more like an ordinary electric guitar, it is intended to be played horizontally. The point is that your thumb is quite independent of the other fingers, so it should be possible to play the bass line using your thumb(s) and the normal electric guitar part using the other fingers.
