Music

In this section, I would like to present my music related projects. They are divided into the following categories:

The major 3rd guitar tuning

This article is about a non-standard guitar tuning, which will make your life much more easier if you play jazz or classical music on the guitar (it is, however, less convenient when playing simple folk songs or music written directly for the standard guitar tuning). For example, inversions of a major triad in this tuning look like this on a fretboard:

You invert chords simply by moving its bottom tone three strings up. Anywhere on the fretboard. Once you learn a chord shape, you can use it anywhere, on any set of strings, and you immediately see how to play its inversions and other variants. In the standard tuning, you have to learn approximately nine times more chord shapes and six times more scale fingerings to achieve the same result as in this tuning.

The M-Stick

The M-Stick is a special instrument developed by me. It is still in the process of manufacturing, further information will be published later.

Melodic scales

The problem of learning the functions of all tones in all scales is difficult (or at least contemporary textbooks state that). Books usually begin by telling you that you should memorize all intervals and scales. Don’t you remember that the major sixth of Db is Bb? Memorize harder! Basically, this is rubbish; once you understand the underlying logic, everything becomes very natural and simple. In this section, I present a way to understand all major and minor scales in a very simple and natural manner by using diagrams such as the one on the right.
